It’s time to bust out the happy dance because it’s Friday, girlfans! How was your week? I got back into my morning boot camp routine at DeVetter Fitness and I’ve got a pep in my step! You’ve heard me talk about DeVetter Fitness here and here and it’s never felt so good to be back on the grind. I’ve been putting my personal health and wellness on the back burner in order to make time for work, friends, family, and fun, and as much as I love all those things, I need to love and take care of myself, first and foremost! And with our wedding being only about 85 days away, it’s crunch time, literally and figuratively! Even just after a few sessions back to the gym, I’m already feeling like my old self again. I also make much better food choices and drink less often when I know I’ve got a 9am butt kicking calling my name! I’ve also been trying to get better sleep. I’m a sleeper by nature. Like I’ve never been a morning person, not ever! So mornings are hard for me. Though I hate it when my alarm goes off, there is something quite glorious about rising and shining and having your full day ahead. After I’m done at boot camp, I feel like I can conquer the world! And when I get up early, and before I have to leave for the gym, I have some quite “me” time, where I can read a book (currently on For the Love by Jen Hatmaker!) or have bible time.
With being back into my fitness routine, I’ve been cooking up a (healthy) storm! Last night I made baked chicken chimichangas and they were bomb.com! Here is the recipe – so easy and so delicious! The recipe says it makes 4 but I was able to get 5 out of the mix. Tony ate two, I had one, and then we split one, but both only had a few bites of our halves because we were so full! I loaded my plate up with shredded cabbage, salsa, and guac to help fill me up without having to eat another tortilla. The other night we found the PF Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps recipe and made them at home and they tasted exactly like the restaurant version! Ours were probably healthier because of the chicken I bought, the low sodium options, and I added carrots and celery to give it more veggies, and crunch!
Do you want to look as good as you feel while multitasking and killing your to-do list? Me too! That’s why having comfortable and stylish athleisure wear is so important! I rely on it to take me from the gym to grocery store and back home to work! And unless you live in a huuuuuge city, then chances are you always happen to run into someone you know post-gym grocery run, and the last thing you want is to be looking like a sweaty, scary fool in your ratty t-shirt and soccer shorts from high school. Yes, I’m talking to myself. But I hate spending tons of money on workout and casual wear – yes Lulu, I’m talking to you. So what’s the happy medium? This sweatshirt and leggings! Both are under $20 and are as comfy as they are cute. I’m wearing a Large in the top and pants, as I prefer my clothes to be on the roomy side, but could’ve definitely sized down to a Medium in both. But seriously, I can’t get over how cute this sweatshirt is! It also looks great with boyfriend jeans and booties for a casual weekend day-date!
