Happy Monday, GFs! Spring has officially sprung aka yesterday was opening day for MLB baseball and I’ve teamed up with Gordmans to talk about my love for the game!  Every baseball season I get super nostalgic and have the happiest thoughts & memories about growing up playing & loving the game.  Back then, I lived in my softball jerseys, adidas cleats, and spent long, sunny summer days at the ball park.  As an adult, I still love going to the ballpark but have fine-tuned my attire just a bit!  Gordmans asked me to show how I support my hometown team in a stylish manner!  I was so excited for this opportunity because I know all too well how difficult it can be to achieve a cute, yet appropriate “fan”look!  And because I ball on a budget (<– so punny!), Gordmans is the place to stock up on all of your fan gear for your favorite teams!

I wanted to re-create the look I actually wore to a KC Royals game!  I find that my white chucks are a key component to any sporting/outdoor event, especially in the summer.  They can be worn with jeans or jean shorts and are super comfy!  Plus, they can be washed in the washing machine, which keeps them looking bright and white, season after season.  I tend to get chilly during night games, so I usually wear jeans with a tee and bring along a cardi or light jacket!  A cross body bag is also a great option because it keeps you hands-free, which allows you to indulge in a cold beer and stadium hotdog!

But seriously, I love baseball.  So it’s quite fitting that I’m marrying a retired ball player!  Tony played minor league ball with the Yankee organization, and the Yanks are also his dad’s and his favorite team – so I now own a NY ball cap and root for the men in navy & pinstripes.  BUT, growing up, I was a huge Atlanta Braves fan!  We didn’t have fancy cable back then, just the basic channels, so my only two viewing options were the Braves on TNT (now they are aired on TBS) or the Cubs on WGN – all my Omaha people know the dilemma!  I didn’t like the Cubs announcer’s voice (don’t hate me, Cubbies fans), so my love affair with the Braves began.   I was a die-hard fan!  Chipper Jones was my dude and I thought Andres Galarraga was God’s gift to baseball.  I had Mattox, Smoltz, & Glavin posters all over my room and I had the biggest crush on Javy Lopez!  I lived & breathed baseball every summer.

I was also a huge Omaha Royals fan!  Now, our Triple A team is called the Omaha Storm Chasers, but back then they were the Royals.  As the stepping stone for the KC Royals organization, many of the Storm Chasers make their way to the Bigs and move up to join the Royals!  When I was growing up, the Royals played at the historic Omaha gem & landmark, Rosenblatt Stadium.  Rosenblatt was also the home of the College World Series.  I went to CWS games every summer and many’a Royals games at the Blatt!  Sadly, Rosenblatt gave way to our new Omaha stadium, TD Ameritrade, but we are still the proud host of the CWS!

I always knew that I would marry someone who loved the same pastimes I enjoyed as a child, and I can’t wait to watch our kiddos play sports and love sports, while creating those memories and traditions that we had!
