Thank you to Hefty® EnergyBag® Program for sponsoring today’s blog post and for the opportunity to share my passion for sustainability with you!  As always, all thoughts expressed are sincerely my own!  And thank YOU for supporting the businesses that allow me to operate Sabby Style full time! Xo

Hi friends and happy Friday!  I have some very exciting news to share with you… we are FINALLY starting our renovation!  After almost 2 years of talking, planning, and waiting for the timing to be right; we are finally ready to begin.  Between deciding which countertops, cabinets, flooring, etc., and then having to resubmit plans to the city for our permit, plus a subcontractor issue; it’s been a slow process, but I couldn’t be more excited for our future remodeled crib!

But before we can start knocking down walls, we have to clear everything out of our house!  Talk about a major undertaking.  We will either be selling, donating, or tossing majority of our household belongings.  I love that we’ll have a blank canvas and can start making this house our home, but I also have some anxiety and guilt about throwing things away.  I’m so thankful that the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program will help me put less trash into the dumpster and more into our recycle bin!  While I was Spring cleaning my bathroom earlier this week, I was so surprised by just how many things I would typically throw away but can now put into the Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bag!

Here in Omaha, our city’s recycling program allows us to recycle numbers 1,2,3 and 5.  And to my surprise, a ton of the beauty products I use are NOT one of those accepted numbers.  From my self tanner, face lotion, face serum, body lotion, hair care products, and makeup tubes; they are either numbers 4 or 7 and some of them don’t even have a number at all.  It makes me sad to think about how much I’ve personally thrown away in the past, and while I can’t change that, I am hopeful that by participating in the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, I can help make an impact on the amount of trash that will end up in our city dumps, landfills, and bodies of water!

And if you happen to be an online shopper like myself, you’ll be pleased to know that the plastic bags used to package items can be put into your  Hefty® EnergyBag® orange bag, rather than the garbage!  In fact, I was just going through a package yesterday and 3 out of the 4 bags had the number 4 on them, which indicates to me I cannot put that bag into my green recycling bin but I can at least put it in my orange Hefty® bag to keep them out of landfills and convert them into valuable energy resources!

In case you missed my first blog post where I shared the list of items that can go in the orange bags, I’ll leave it below for your reference!
