Hi friends and happy Monday fresh start to a brand new week! How was your weekend? On Saturday we went and looked at cars for T, which was only supposed to be a “quick stop” but turned into 3+ hours later and on the verge of buying a new car! Isn’t that how it always goes? It’s like when I go the mall to “just look” haha. Boys and their cars! Then we grabbed a much needed adult beverage to discuss the next steps, had lettuce wraps for a light dinner, and settled in for House of Cards! Do you watch HoC? I wasn’t super crazy about last season, so I was pleasantly surprised that this season started off with a bang and I thought it was quick moving and every episode was interesting! Then Sunday Tony played golf – shocker, I know – and I prepped looks for my blog shoot before we went downtown to catch happy hour at one of our favorite sea food spots, Plank, and walked around downtown, burning off those homemade fries and garlic aioli! It was a nice and quiet weekend, which was just what I needed because this week is shaping up to be a busy one, plus having my Grandma’s funeral service, I needed some down time.
Aside from work & family stuff, I hope to catch some rays and get in some pool time because Summer has officially arrived in Omaha! Hot, humid, and mid 90’s – yep it feels like Summer and I love it. Aside from being a sun lover (with SPF 50 on, always!), my Summer wardrobe is my favorite out of all four seasons! I have the green light to wear all the bright colors and fun prints and one of my current loves is definitely gingham! It combines classic Americana vibes with on-trend colors & shapes, making it a must-wear print for Summer BBQ’s and holiday parties. I just got these scallop shorts a couple weeks ago and couldn’t wait to share them with you girls. I wanted to dress up the gingham baby doll top so I paired it with the shorts that has the cutest feminine hem detail, which would be great for a date night out with the hubs or to a social event with my friends! If I’m going to be outside, I would wear this top with high waisted cut off shorts and wedges or laceup sandals because comfort is key for Summer!
And let’s chat about this checkered tote! I love a good sized bag that I can throw all my essentials in and still feel cute and stylish, because functionality doesn’t have to be boring!
