Hey babes and happy Tuesday aka Thursday because it’s a short work week! Who else is ready to eat their weight in turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, cheesy potatoes, and pumpkin pie?! This girl is. But wait, I won’t be. Damn that pesky wedding and very expensive gown I need to fit into come 39 days or so! How do you eat and indulge without breaking the caloric bank? I personally choose my must-have foods and pass on ones that aren’t my absolute favorite. So I definitely do NOT miss out on stuffing and cheesy potatoes. Like, I will not. So that means I kindly pass on the casseroles and pie. I load up on turkey to get full on as much protein as I can and then help myself to my two delicious sides. I also make sure to drink lots of water prior to sitting down for dinner. That doesn’t mean that you can’t have any wine or festive holiday beer, but about an hour before dinner is when I finish that glass of cheer, and begin to load up on water. This helps me feel fuller faster and also curbs that annoying red wine headache that always tends to creep up!
And because I’m a firm believer that you can eat it all, but not all at the same time, this mantra still allows me to eat without feeling restrictive! Which means I dress for comfort, and a little bit of style, on holidays. This striped poncho is a cold weather essential and hides all sorts of bumps & lumps – whether it be a beer baby, a turkey & stuffing baby, a pumpkin pie baby, or an actual real baby! For clarification, I will only be hiding a baby of the food & alcohol kind. I love this poncho because it gives me warmth and layers without the bulk or having to wear a heavy winter coat when going on a date night or happy hour with the girls! I detest winter coats and will only wear them if I absolutely have to. So I stay warm with chic and cozy layers! Sometimes ponchos & capes can give an appearance of being larger than you actually are, due to the oversized cut and shape… which no one wants! But this poncho features asymmetrical stripes & the fringe detail on the hem shows a little bit of leg and makes it less heavy!
I don’t normally wear all black ensembles but I loved how sleek and easy this look was with the black OTK boots (under $70 btw) and black leggings & long sleeve tee! But to give it some pop of color, I added this beautiful cognac hobo tote with fun zipper detail! And to compliment the rich hues in the bag, I opted for turquoise and orange tassel earrings!
My poncho & liquid leggings are both from Jess Lea Boutique and are both 10% off (along with the entire site!) with code SABBYSTYLE and my cognac tote is under $50 from Shop Suey Boutique with code sabby20 (20% off entire site, as well)!
