Navy Maxi Dress that is Perfect for a Summer Wedding

Hi galpals!  Normally I’m sharing bright colored outfits and the color pink is a frequent flyer here on Sabby Style, but I do realize that super bright hues might not be everyone’s jam or in every gal’s comfort zone, so today I have a dress that is subtle in it’s color but striking with it’s pattern and details!  Summertime and maxi dresses go hand-in-hand #duh but not all maxi dresses are created equal.  Which is why I’m pretty darn picky when it comes to deciding which ones make the closet cut!  Not only do they have to be above basic & boring, as well as make a statement in some way, but I won’t let quality slide for the sake of looks, either.  This navy off-the-shoulder (OTS) maxi checks all the boxes and is a dream to wear!  The fabric is incredibly soft, doesn’t wrinkle right away, and the fit is spot on!

One of the toughest occasions for me to decide what to wear has to be a Summer wedding! Not a Winter wedding, because you don’t have to worry about upstaging the bride in a black long sleeve dress haha but that’s just not the case when it’s sunny and warm outside and I just want to wear allllllllll the neon haha!  So when I spotted this dress from K. Ellis Boutique, I immediately thought it would be ideal for a warm weather nuptial.  The rich shade of navy lends a classic touch while the ivory print keeps it light and airy!  The OTS cut highlights your strong & sexy shoulders (because we’ve kept those fitness goals, right?!) without showing too much of your chest or arms.  The slits on the sides will help keep you cool, especially if you’re cutting up a rug on the dance floor but they don’t show too much thigh, which the bride will appreciate!  I wanted the dress and the beautiful print to be the focal point, so I kept my jewelry simple with white statement earrings, but you could easily pair a variety of colors for that fun pop of color!

But this dress can be styled for so much more than a wedding!  I would definitely wear this maxi to church on Sunday (throw a white cardigan or denim jacket over your shoulder if you need to cover up a bit more), a bridal shower, or even a casual backyard BBQ.  Simply throw your hair up or pull it back into a braid, swap the heels for comfy sandals, ditch the earrings, and add a cross body bag for an easy breezy vibe!

Style Tip – If you’re going to a wedding or fun gathering over the 4th of July or Labor Day, a red tassel earring would be the perfect patriotic touch!

For size reference, I’m wearing a Small (runs roomy!) and it’s 10% off with code sabbystyle!  PS – it also comes in white!

Thank you to my friend Kayla, the owner of K. Ellis Boutique, for sponsoring today’s blog post!  As always, all thoughts expressed are authentically my own.  Thank you for supporting the boutiques that I love to work with! xoxo
