Look Good, Feel Good, DO GOOD – Embroidered Lace Maxi Dress from Altar’d State & Why You Should Shop There

Hi sweet friends and happy Easter Sunday!  I don’t typically post here on Sundays but this is a special post, not only because this maxi dress is a stunner #helloperfectSpringdress, but because I’m super excited to share where it’s from and the reason why this is my new favorite store!  Have you ever heard of Altar’d State? I wasn’t familiar with them until they recently opened a new store at Village Pointe here in Omaha.  I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I was blown away the moment I walked through the door… and in more ways than one!  First of all, the store is exquisite.  Hands down one of the most beautiful retail spaces I have ever laid eyes on.  And don’t even get me started on the dressing room… it basically is my “Dream Home” Pinterest board brought to real life!

The details are impeccable and not to mention the gorgeous store is filled with some pretty fabulous merchandise, but that’s just scratching the surface… there’s so much more to Altar’d State than what meets the eye!

So a little back story on Altar’d State… they are a Christian-based company that began with one little shop selling a few things, while also doubling as a coffee shop and a place for the community to gather and connect with one another.  The two owners were pleased with the success but felt in their hearts that they needed to do more, to be more.  So they opened a second store and began to focus on women’s apparel and unique home items, accessories, and gifts.  And now with over 70 stores in 23 states, they have changed the retail game and strive to put a cause behind the clothes!  Altar’d State has declared Mondays as Mission Monday, meaning they donate 10% of Monday’s net profits to global non-profit causes and charities!  Most of you know that I’m a huge animal advocate and have a passion for rescue and adoption, and it just so happens that this Spring, Mission Monday benefits non-profit organizations focused on saving animals!  Be still my heart.  And you know those gifts/home decor items I was talking about?  While I was in the dressing room, Tony was being the dutiful purse-holding-husband and happened to spot the cutest frame that says “True Love Has Four Paws” (pictures below)!  Naturally it came home with us and it means even more to me knowing that part of that purchase will go towards supporting rescue dogs, just like our sweet Roger, whom we rescued in 2009!

You guys, I literally was in tears when I left the store.  My heart was touched by the sweet sales associates who certainly didn’t act like they were “working”, but rather they were spreading joy and cheer to each customer they helped!  I mentioned before that the decor is beyond anything I’ve seen in a boutique or retail store, but even more than the fancy ambiance, there are messages of fellowship & faith all over the store that remind you that God is very much present and alive here.

Yes I love fashion, and yes that is what this blog is all about.  But that doesn’t mean fashion has to be materialistic or shallow.  Altar’d State proves that you can look good, feel good, and do good!

And speaking of looking good, let’s chat about this statement-making maxi dress!  I bought this dress on a Monday (cheers to the dogs!) and fell in love with it the moment I zipped it up.  This style of maxi dress was also super popular last Spring and I had attempted to own a couple, but all of them were cut far too low for my liking.  I tried pinning the deep V together, and I tried sticky tape to keep everything in place, but I worried I would have a Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction!  This dress shows just enough but still leaves plenty to the imagination and is a nice blend of sexy and classy.  The embroidered detailing is so striking and the sheer lace keeps it modern and fun!  I also love that I didn’t have to get it hemmed!  It always seems that maxi dresses are way too long for petite girls (I’m 5″3), so I appreciate that this one hung perfectly with my nude heels.  I wish I would have seen this dress when I was engaged because it would be ideal for an engagement party, a bridal shower, a bachelorette party, or a rehearsal dinner!  And even if you’re not getting hitched, this dress is still a great number for any Spring event you may have coming up; such as weddings and cocktail parties.  Plus you can go a more casual route by swapping the heels for sandals and wearing your hair in a top knot with minimal jewelry!

From the fashion to the mission behind it, I really enjoyed writing this post and hope you girls enjoy learning more about the retailers that I love & support – especially those that are making our world a better place!
