Hi friends and happy Tuesday! If you follow me on the ‘Gram then you know that two weekends ago, Tony and I took a long weekend getaway to Kansas City, our favorite spot for when we want to get out of town for a bit! I received so many recommendations for places to eat and drink, and since we stayed in Westport for the first time, I thought it would be super helpful and fun to put together a Kansas City Getaway Guide for those of you who will be traveling there in the future!
So let’s break down WHAT WE DROVE, WHERE WE STAYED, and WHAT WE ATE, DRANK & DID
WHAT WE DROVE
Kansas City is just about shy of 3 hours away, so it’s a super easy and quick drive for us and for this trip, we had the opportunity to borrow the cutest bright blue Mini Cooper Countryman from Mini of Omaha!
If there ever was a car that is so me, it definitely would be this blue beauty! I mean, it’s obviously cute and sassy, but even more so, it’s packed full of fun details like the white roof top, a big colorful screen, changing lights around the dash, and subtle plaid prints in the console. It also nails it on comfort & leisure! It features a wireless charging station for iPhones, has a wicked sounds system, gives you extra padding on the front of the seats for thigh support, has a front dash air vent system that keeps the cabin cool without freezing you out when the AC is on, has talk-to-nav [navigation] capability, and it gets awesome gas mileage aka easy on the budget. We filled up the day before we left and didn’t need to get gas (still had a .5 tank though!) until half way home to Omaha!
You girls know I love things that are classy, pretty, and stylish yet attainable, and this Mini Countryman is the definition of that. And it even held allll our luggage, which is saying a lot because I’m certainly not a light packer! The Girl Scout motto is “Always Be Prepared!”
A very special thanks to my friends at Mini of Omaha for the complimentary vehicle!

WHERE WE STAYED
We typically stay downtown, but for this trip we wanted to mix it up a bit! While we were in KC this past May, we explored the Westport area and had such a great time bopping from place to place and loved the fact that we could walk pretty much everywhere, so we knew we wanted to stay there for our next trip! In fact, when we were in Westport during our last KC stint, I spotted the AC Hotel Westport and was so excited because I actually partnered with the AC Hotel National Harbor in Washington D.C. last December – read my D.C. Travel Guide Post Here! We had an amazing stay so the Westport location was a natural choice.
The AC Westport is located right along Westport Road, so it’s beyond convenient for everything we did in Westport, but it’s not right in the heart of the action, so it was a peaceful and quiet stay! Westport gets a little loud at night haha but I slept like a baby!

WHAT WE ATE, DRANK & DID
First of all, thank you so much for all of your recommendations! We tried to hit up as many of those places as we could. Y’all are the best! xoxo
We spent most of our time in Westport when we weren’t shopping, but on Thursday night we did go to the Billy Currington concert at Power & Light’s KC LIVE! Every Thursday night through out the Summer, there is an outdoor show in the open air space in the middle of the Power & Light area and it is such a fun experience! We checked into the room, got situated and changed clothes and then took the hotel shuttle to Power & Light, which was just a short 10 minute ride! We got our wristbands and went to McFadden’s. It’s one of our favorite spots and they have a great happy hour through out the week! We had a couple drinks there then made our way to find a spot outside for the show.
After the concert we went upstairs to Howl at the Moon (a dueling piano bar) and enjoyed one more cocktail while singing along to the super talented performers. I love this place because you can dance, sing along from your seat, or just people watch! Then we went downstairs to the Pizza Bar and grabbed a few slices of to-go Za before getting an Uber back to the hotel!

After our shopping, we headed back to the hotel to park the car and put the bags away, and then made our way down Westport Road! We started with Kelly’s Westport Inn, and then went to HopCat, and Beer Kitchen. Then we met our friend Molly at the Ale House and from there we created our own little Bar Crawl!

HOPCAT – SO MANY BEERS ON TAP
BEER KITCHEN – WE HAD PBR TALL BOYS AND A DELICIOUS FLATBREAD!
On Saturday we slept in and then made our way to the Plaza! We walked SO much and after sweating our buns off – it was 95 and sunny – we stopped into O’dowd’s for tasty parmesan fries and a cold Coors Light! We’ve been here once before late night after a baseball game and their second story patio was hopping! It’s a must-go place at night if you’re in the Plaza. Then we walked across the street and stopped at Gram & Dun. This is one of the most beautiful bars/restaurants I’ve seen! I want my house to look like the interior and decor haha. And don’t even get me started on how fabulous their patio is! It’s full of gray couches, umbrellas, string lights, and a big outdoor bar! I want to go back when it’s not so hot so we can sit outside! Before leaving the Plaza we walked over to Tomfooleries, which is a super cool two-story bar, for a quick bite. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and the veggie flatbread, yum yum!

After our day exploring the Plaza, we went back to the hotel and changed for a night out with Molly, round #2! Again, we met at the Ale House then went to Harpo’s and sat outside on their patio. It turned into such a nice night! Also, they have an outside bar and their patio is huge! I highly recommend stopping here if it’s weather permitting! We ended the night dancing at Johnny Kaw’s and grabbed ice cream for the walk back to the hotel!

There is so much to see, eat, drink, and do all within walking distance and we can’t wait to stay in Westport again!
The last view before headed home on Sunday! Until next time Kansas City!
