How to Wear Colors in the Fall: Berry Pink Ruffle Shirt for Work and Play, Gray Jeans, and Yellow Slides

Hi friends and happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  We are having the best weather here in Omaha, so T and I were out and about every chance we had.  I just love this time of year.  The days are warm while the evenings have a slight chill in the air, the leaves are just about to start changing, college football is gearing up, and Bath & Body Works have debuted some new scents!  Mahogany Teakwood is my favorite scent ever!  I also love the months of August and September because it’s still totally acceptable to wear lots of colors; especially if you’re in the South or Midwest where it’s still rather warm in those months.  I think there’s a big misconception that it’s not socially acceptable to wear your favorite colorful hues in the Fall, but I’m here to tell you that that is just not true!

Gray is such a great neutral, basically a happy medium between white jeans and black jeans, and is the perfect canvas for your favorite colors!  Not only do these gray jeans look fab with bright hues, but they also pair just as well with blush and cream tones, as well as dark neutrals.  I actually wore these jeans last Fall with a blush sweater and tan peep-toe booties!  I’m not quite ready for booties just yet because my feet always get super toasty, so until the temps gets much cooler, I’ll be reaching for these yellow slides.  You may be thinking, Sara, yellow in the Fall?  No way!  Yellow is only a Summer color.  Think again galpals!  Shades of mustard and marigold, along with amber jewel tones, are ideal for Fall!

I’m always amazed when I receive feedback or comments along the lines of “that looks good on you, but I can’t wear that” or “I would have never thought to pair those things together”.  I think those old, antiquated fashion “rules” (like no white pants after Labor Day and black and brown don’t go together) have been engrained into our brains for so long that we’re getting stuck in style ruts!  Fashion should be fun and interesting and it shouldn’t only be about function or what is “normal”!  Especially when it comes to wearing color.  Just because we’re saying goodbye to Summer doesn’t mean we can’t wear beautiful shades of emerald and kelly green, cobalt or royal blue, and bold berry pinks, like this beautiful top!

Ruffle details and cold shoulders are here to stay, and I have big plans for this darling pink top!  I’m actually speaking at a conference next weekend, and this pink number is the front-runner for what I’m planning to wear.  I just love that I can style it so many different ways, for a variety of occasions

– With gray jeans and bold yellow mules = brunch with the girls!

– With black denim, peep-toe booties, and a jean jacket = date night!

– Tucked into a pencil or A-line skirt with nude pointed-toe pumps and a white or black blazer = office appropriate!  And this is how I will style it for the conference.

You know versatility is key for me, so I seriously love that this top can be worn for work and play!  Plus it’s just $29 with special code SABBY15 from Dreamboat Boutique!
