Hi babes and happy Friday! How was your week? Mine has flown by and I still feel like I’m playing catch up from being out of town a couple weekends ago! August is looking to be an even busier month than July, but with that comes a lot of fun and exciting content that I’m pumped to share with you soon! So what do you have planned this weekend? Tonight I’m going to the Balloon & Wine Festival with my girlfriend, Michelle, and I’m really looking forward to an evening with wine (le duh) and just being outside and enjoying a Summer night! I’m hoping to get in some pool time on Saturday if the weather cooperates. It’s been very cool (for August) here in Omaha, so it’s been a bit tricky finding time to get in some rays! On Sunday we’re co-hosting a diaper shower for Tony’s best friend and his wife! While I have *slight* baby fever, we’re enjoying being newlyweds and are living vicariously through our friends and their sweet babes. Have you ever had, attended, or thrown a diaper shower? I don’t know exactly just how many diapers you go through when you have a baby, but based on how appreciative our friends have been and told us how awesome these diaper showers are, I can only imagine that it’s a huge expense! So we’re so happy to be able to throw our friends a little get-together that will lessen that worry/aspect of being new parents. Plus, we all like to eat and drink adult bevs (minus mom-to-be), so we’ll use any excuse to have a party and make memories with our nearest and dearest!
And while diapers may be expensive, this striped peplum cutie is not! It’s hard to segue from diapers to fashion haha. But seriously though, I can’t get over this super fun, and affordable (only $12), top! You can’t go wrong with classic stripes, but sometimes you need to add a little something extra to them. The peplum, high-low hem keeps these stripes fresh and on-trend! That’s what I love about SheIn; you can add trendy pieces to your wardrobe and take style risks because everything is so affordable. I believe in investment pieces; such as bags, shoes, (some) jewelry, denim, and outerwear, but I don’t think you should have to spend $100+ on a t-shirt or blouse! I love to mix high-low pieces, and one way I do that is with pricier shoes, bag, & denim and then add in my “fast fashion” item on top paired with a bold accessory. These chartreuse tassel earrings pack the perfect punch of color to the cool blue tones in the jeans and stripes! I opted for a classic nude pump and opted for a sleek white bag to keep this simple & chic, but this would look super cute with colored pumps, too. Another trick to “fake it ’til you make it” with inexpensive items is to make sure they’re wrinkle and stain free. A $10 tee can look better than a $50 one that may have a mark or is pilling. And no matter how pricey or inexpensive an item is, as long as you feel confident in what you’re wearing, that alone is worth a million bucks!
How do you mix high-end and low-end pieces?
