Hi babes and happy Monday! It’s quite the chilly one here today and it feels more like Winter than Fall. But rather than letting the cold weather blues get to me, I’m going to embrace each day and start planning my looks for the upcoming holiday season! As most of you know, I got married on NYE of last year, so needless to say, all of my time, energy, and resources went to our big day. Which meant that I put holiday shopping & outfits on the back burner! So to make up for last year, I’m starting early and starting strong with this gorgeous gold pleated midi skirt and velvet top! You girls will honestly never believe where I found them. Are you ready??? Shopko! Growing up, we went to private Catholic school, which meant I wore a uniform every day for 12 years and all of our money went to education, so when we did shop, it was rare and it was always at an affordable, budget-friendly store. Shopko was right by our house, too, so it was a super convenient place for us! I hadn’t shopped at Shopko in many years, so when they reached out to me to partner, I was excited and a bit apprehensive because I didn’t know what to expect! When I picture a “Holiday Look” for a party, event, or show, I automatically think of gold! Our family’s Christmas gatherings are always pretty casual, but we do have a fancy Christmas/Holiday party to attend and I knew I wanted to grab something special for it. From the moment I spotted this skirt, it was exactly what I had envisioned! The pleats add extra interest and the thick black waist band (that stretches – major bonus!) makes it extra flattering. I also love this skirt because it doesn’t scream “Christmas”. I definitely think this skirt would be great for an office setting, a networking event, a Fall or Winter wedding, New Year’s Eve festivities, and of course, for those holiday parties!
At first I thought I would just pair this skirt with a basic white tank or tee, but then I saw this velvet shell and the texture just jumped out at me! Velvet is trending big time right now and I really enjoy how well it complements the gold skirt. The tank also comes in a the blush version, which would be perfect with boyfriend jeans and nude pumps for a laid back date night look! To add a little edge to the feminine top & skirt, I opted for my go-to black Moto jacket. I’ve had this jacket for three years now and it gets better with every wear! I love that it’s faux leather, fits like a glove, and is under $90. I also have it in blush, too!
