Hey babes and happy Wednesday! How is your week going so far and how was your weekend? Tony and I celebrated a friend’s birthday on Saturday and then on Sunday I went over to my parents’ house for the first pool party of the Summer! Unfortunately when they took the winter cover off the pool back in May, they found a rip in the liner and it was just too big to repair and patch, so they had to replace the entire liner, which was a major bummer. We live for pool afternoons around here, so after almost 8 weeks, it has been fixed and all is right in the Sabaliauskas world! Spending the weekends in the pool has become our norm, so it was pretty weird to not have that tradition for the first part of Summer. I cherish our pool days so much! What do you guys do as a family or with friends in the Summer? We’re always looking for ideas when we need to take a break from the heat and sun!
And speaking of taking a break from the sun – enter the most perfect Summer sweater to give those sun-kissed shoulders a reprieve! Same as kimonos and duster cardigans, open-knit oversized sweaters work just as well in the Summer as they do in Spring and Fall. Ok, sure, I’m not going to wear it while I’m camped out by the pool or on a patio when it’s 95 degrees outside. But when we go out for dinner dates and happy hour, I’m always so cold the moment we sit down inside! So for those scenarios, a Summer sweater is the perfect piece. To make a sweater work in the Summer, it’s all about balance! Since my arms are covered, I pair long sleeve tops, sweaters, and kimonos with semi-short cut off shorts (not hoochie, just a little sexy to show off the stems!) and either wedges or gladiator sandals! This is honest to goodness my favorite outfit to create, like, ever. See my Instagram for proof – cut off shorts and some kind of oversized top is my #SummerUniform and I don’t plan on quitting that look any time soon!
This cream sweater can be worn as a slouchy one shoulder or draped on both shoulders and despite the oversized fit, it’s not all that heavy! And the open stitch is not too open, so I didn’t wear anything underneath. I generally shy away from things that I have to fuss with, i.e. trying to figure out what cami tank or bralette I need to wear underneath. I just have on a nude strapless bra and it works perfectly since the sweater is a nude/cream shade! This sweater also comes in a pretty pink and bright yellow, and while I love those colors, I really like that this neutral serves as a blank canvas for pops of color, like these gorgeous earrings from 7 Charming Sisters!
