Hi babes and happy Tuesday! It finally stopped raining yesterday which means I can finally start dressing for the weather and not just the season! I love how effortless and polished eyelet pieces are. There can be so many different takes on how to style this look – from nautical, beachy, & preppy, all the way to cool, effortless casual! I definitely wouldn’t describe my style as nautical, beachy, or preppy and maybe not super cool, but somewhere along those lines is where this outfit originated from. I wanted to put my Sabby Style spin on a very classic and timeless style! Not only do I love to mix prints, but I also love to mix different fabrics and textures, making this eyelet skirt such a fun little number to play around with! And because I believe that you should only own pieces that you can work, and rework, time and time again, I am styling this skirt and chambray top two different ways, to help you get the most bang for your buck!
For this first take on eyelet and chambray, I knew I wanted to highlight the eyelet detail and mix it with a different material. This cotton/linen blend striped top was the perfect pair for such a feminine skirt. Putting a tee with this skirt dresses it down just a notch, which would allow me to wear this outfit to multiple occasions – whether it be going out with girlfriends or an evening patio date with Tone, these pieces definitely offer major flexibility and versatility! Or swap out the heels for espadrilles and you’ve got a perfect day-time ensemble! I chose to wear the top untucked, because I am loving the “tied around waist” look and knew that by doing so, it would give me the shape I would want to keep me from looking baggy, saggy, and not put-together. Chambray shirts are hands-down the wardrobe rock star and every gal should own a good-fitting, comfortable and soft, chambray shirt!
With the stripes and eyelet pair, I wanted to keep my accessories and shoes minimal yet in theme with this cool-cashe ensemble! The clutch, though simple in it’s color, still offers tons of interest and fun with the basket weave stitch. And I opted for a single bangle, which from experience, a simple armstack is much better for warmer temps – simple is best (sometimes)! But you know I love a pop of color, and pretty pastel pink & purple hues are definitely my jam, so it’s no surprise that I fell head over heels in love with this gorgeous abstract floral scarf!
Also, I wouldn’t be doing my blogger & stylist duty if I didn’t say this – If you don’t own a nude pair of ankle strap heel sandals, run, don’t walk to your nearest Target or Nordstrom (there’s some for every budget!) and get yourself a pair. Your legs will thank you, as all of a sudden they appear to be miles long!
For me, personal style is all about creating my own version of fad trends and the latest popular, must-have items. I ask myself HOW can I make this outfit reflect me, and not every other blogger in the blogosphere. And guess what, that all starts with where you shop! Finding your go-to shopping places and knowing what works best on you, and for you, are the keys to style success! Also, know your budget and stick to it! Sure, save up and buy that higher priced designer item once in a (very) blue moon, but be happy in your budget box. Embrace it! Personal style can be achieved on so many different budgets. It’s OK to not have Valentino bags and Manolos lining your closet. Find your happy place (or online space) and shop away!
I’m super lucky to have found a fabulous, local boutique that covers all those considerations and that’s why I love to shop at Statement Boutique! Kristen, the fabulous owner, really knows fashion and she just gets it. She has a keen eye for unique and different pieces that aren’t just the run of the mill boutique items. Plus the girl used to style Rachael Ray! Note – not Rachel Roy LOL! Which is why we didn’t have to think twice when deciding where to host our next Girls Night Event!
Mark you calendars for a Springtastic special event with Statement Boutique for their 5th anniversary!!! There are so many things to look forward to, and as usual, we are doing our best to improve your experience with each event. RSVP here.
For those of you beautiful babes who will be joining us, here are a few tidbits of information you should know! The doors will open at 6:30pm to begin with some mix & mingle – and a whole lot of shopping! Then we will begin the fashion show that will feature some beautiful local bloggers (+ a few of their own baby girls)! We will also have live music, special gifts for the first 27 guests (a nod to Statement’s May 27th anniversary date), great giveaways, exclusive merchandise straight from LA, brought to you just for this special event! And no good Girls Night Event would be complete without sips & snacks sponsored by local businesses, along with an indoor/outdoor setup with private tent for attendees! This is going to be our best, and biggest, event yet and we sure do hope everyone can join us on May 19th!
