Hi friends and happy Sunday! How is your weekend going? I’m headed to my parents’ house for a pool day, even though it’s a bit cool and cloudy here, we’re still trying to make the most out of every Sunday we have left in Summer! Fall is just around the corner and since I’m not ready to say goodbye to swimsuits, Farmer’s Markets, sandals, and cold brew coffee; I’ve got a few hacks that help me hold onto Summer for just a bit longer. One of my favorite things about these transitional months is to wear cozy sweaters, duster cardigans, and kimonos that are “Fall-like” with cutoff shorts and jeans skirts! Because let’s face it, if you live in the midwest or down South, then you know it can get plenty hot in September & October, and you might even get a warm spell in December (Tony has played golf on December 1st before!), so we don’t really tuck away our transitional items until the snow falls. The short/skirt + sweater combo is ideal for a Friday date-night, college football tailgates on Saturdays, and then on Sunday for brunch on the patio! And to create more of a Fall vibe, simply swap the mules & wedges out for peep-toe booties! I just got this jean skirt and it’s taking me back to my junior high days! What do you think of the jean skirt trend? I’ve been trying to find the perfect one and I think I hit the jackpot with this little mini. The rips and distressing keeps it fresh & current, plus the shorter length shows off my legs! The length on this one is just right – I feel comfortable wearing it to run errands in sandals or sneakers while still feeling sexy in heels. And when you sit down your butt isn’t exposed! If you’re not a huge fan of jean shorts, then a denim skirt might be a great option for you. I think skirts of all types are universally flattering on women!
I love how this skirt looks with these bow mules (on sale and so comfy!) and my cozy cream pullover! It’s similar to the Free People version but it’s wayyyyyy cheaper – only $42! I wish you could feel how soft the material is. It’s probably the softest thing I own! It also comes in wine, black, and gray and I’m going back for the rich burgundy hue next. Aside from the price and coziness, I also love this pullover because you can style it so many different ways! Pair it with a denim skirt and mules, like I did here, or opt for sleek, ankle strap heels and boyfriend jeans for a laid-back yet effortlessly chic vibe. I’ve also worn it with black cutoff shorts and these bow mules! You girls know I’m all about versatility and a low cost per wear, and this top is it. Plus you can’t go wrong when supporting a small business and the woman behind the dream!

Hi friends and happy Wanderlust Wednesday! Is that a thing? If not, I’m making it one ha. What can I say, I love a little play-on-words action! A couple weeks ago I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Charleston, South Carolina for a campaign with Toyota to explore the city and unRAVel tRAVel in a RAV4! I met my blogging besties there, Cortney and Kelssey, and we had the most amazing weekend. There is SO much to do in Charleston! We were there for 4 days but honestly could have used a few more days to fit in all that we wanted to do and see! From shopping on King Street, to eating your way through the city, to the architecture, history & ghost tours, to spending a day (or two!) at Sullivans Island or Folley Beach; whatever you like to do, you’ll find it in Charleston!
I landed in Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina where Cortney picked me up in our snazzy red RAV4 to hit the road for the short three-hour drive to Charleston! From the start, we experienced nothing but comfort paired with all the functionality we could ever need, which made for a super smooth ride! Side note, we were almost to Charleston when a severe wave of hunger came over us and we made a quick turn into Chick-fil-A, which was my very first time eating there! Cortney thought I was cray cray when I asked for ketchup to go with my chicken nuggets, and after realizing how dumb that was, I quickly asked for the “sauce” and all was right in the world!
MY TRAVEL STYLE
WHERE TO STAY
FRANCIS MARION HOTEL: We arrived in Charleston around 3pm and met Kelssey at our hotel, the Francis Marion, which is located right on King Street! It’s a beautiful historic hotel, filled with classic details and lots of Southern Charm. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and accommodated many of our needs; one being needing portable clothing racks and extra hangers ha! Hey, that’s what you get when you have three fashion bloggers in one room and the city you’re visiting is our spirit animal – hello pink walls = lots of cute outfits! Our room had the prettiest blue walls and darling decor. We had a mini fridge (which was super handy to keep our leftovers in!), a flat screen tv, sitting area (which turned into our wardrobe/closet), and plenty of outlets for our curling irons, wands, iPhones, and MacBooks! Our room was on the 10th floor and looked right out to King Street with a great view of the city and ocean! And for all my coffee lovers, our hotel had a Starbucks in it, which was heaven! We were going, going, going from sun-up to sun-down, so grabbing my breakfast sandwich and cold brew as we headed out in our RAV4 gave me all the fuel I needed for all the exploring we did!
WHERE TO EAT
492 on KING STREET: On our first night in Charleston, we met the awesome people of Toyota and the rest of the blogger gang at 492 for cocktail hour, a delicious dinner, and the yummiest dessert! We sipped on craft cocktails, local beer, and insanely good wine while getting to know one another. Our menu offered some serious dishes and it was so tough to choose just one, but I opted for the Swordfish fillet and my, oh my, it was the best fish I’ve had in a very long time! I didn’t think I could fit one more morsel into my body, but of course I made room for a ice cream cookie. Thank goodness we had lots of walking ahead of us that evening because I needed to burn off my indulgences!

CRU CAFE: Talk about a dining experience! We enjoyed a private dinner on the second floor and it was a quaint and elegant set-up. We first shared appetizers; such as fried green tomatos with a caramel marmalade, fresh baguettes and brie, and fried calamari. Next we feasted on bountiful salads! I opted for the butter lettuce and vegetable option. And for the main course I choose stuffed fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, and savory fresh vegetables. The service was excellent and every dish was a true treat. I normally eat meals very quickly, but it was refreshing to just sit and enjoy each course and of course, the amazing company!
MAGNOLIAS: After hearing such good things about this restaurant, and having Cortney also recommend it, we knew we had to make a trip to Magnolias! We stopped in for a late lunch and much to our surprise, there wasn’t a wait, which was awesome because we were starving! We shared homemade bleu cheese kettle chips and tuna deviled eggs and then each dove into our own lunch entrees! I had a warm ham and swiss wrap and it was delicious! Kelssey had the crab cake sandwich and Cortney had the BLT; both loved their meals! I highly recommend this chic restaurant featuring uptown comfort food!
GENTRY BAR: For our last night in Charleston, Toyota threw a fabulous private cocktail party at the Gentry Bar and we had such a fun evening! From wine and local beer, to pimento cheese bread and mini sliders, to Gentry Bourbon tasting; we were treated like gold and it was the best way to end our weekend! And the icing on the cake? Meeting JD, the owner of Gentry Bar and Gentry Bourbon, who is also on the Bravo TV show, Southern Charm! Which happens to be one of Tony and I’s favorite show. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to visit Charleston for many years and when that show aired, I knew I had to experience this city for myself. I cannot wait to visit again and will definitely be sure to stop in to the Gentry Bar next time I’m there!
WHERE TO PLAY
HAUNTED GHOST TOUR: We went on a haunted ghost tour our first night in Charleston and it was the perfect way to kick off the weekend! There was so much history and culture packed into the tour, plus being able to see the city up close and personal by walking to the haunted dungeon was pretty awesome!
OLD SOUTH CARRIAGE TOURS: On Friday morning we went on a carriage ride tour of historic Charleston and it was SO NEAT! I love learning about the places I’m visiting, and our tour guide was incredibly knowledgable, funny, and really made the tour that much more fun. There are a few companies that offer carriage tour rides, but I would highly recommend Old South Carriage Company, as they take extremely good care of their sweet horses (our guy was Luke!) and for those of you who know my passion & heart for animals, this was music to my ears. This is another way to see the city and to take some amazing photos of the stunning architecture and cityscape!
EXPLORING RAINBOW ROW: If there ever was a street I was certain that I needed to live on, it would be Rainbow Row in Charleston! Pink, Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple, Mint, Orange, Coral, and the list goes on that describes the vibrant and colorful houses you’ll see when visiting Rainbow Row.! It was the perfect place for us to take the RAV4 and do some exploring while taking some blog photos! We hired Kim, a super sweet and talented local photographer, to take some photos for us! Our RAV4 was a bright red, but even on Rainbow Row, it looks a little pink 🙂

SULLIVAN’S ISLAND: Before the rain hit us on Saturday, us girls snuck out to Sullivan’s Island early in the morning! I mean, you can’t go to Charleston and not go to the beach! It was windy but still so beautiful and it felt good to have salty hair and sandy toes. I would highly recommend making a day out of Sullivan’s Island; just a short 15-20 minute drive from King Street!

BOONE HALL PLANTATION: We visited the Boone Hall Plantation and I was blown away by the stunning grounds and the history behind those walls. We went on a house tour (unfortunately no photos were allowed) and our tour guide had given over 10,00 tours! As I’m sure you can image, the inside of the house was just as beautiful as the outside. One of the neat things is that you don’t know which house tour you’re going to get, so each time you visit you’ll see a different part of the house! There were also live presentations on the Gullah culture through out the day. I was blown away by how much Gullah has influenced the culture of Charleston! And can we talk about all that Spanish Moss? The lane leading up the main house could be straight from a movie! Oh wait, it literally was. Allie’s parents’ summer house in The Notebook is the Boone Hall Plantation!
PINEAPPLE FOUNTAIN & BATTERY PROMENADE: I wish we had more time to spend walking the Battery area, but we were on a time crunch in-between lunch at Magnolias and needing to head back to the hotel to get ready for our event at the Gentry Bar! I did take a few photos of the notable pineapple fountain, but because it was a super hot day (and school was out), there were a lot of kids wading in the fountain waters, which meant my photos were not blog worthy! Next time I visit, I’ll definitely go the Battery in the early morning so I can capture some great photos!
Where are your favorite places to Eat, Stay, & Play in Charleston?! xoxo
Hi babes and happy Tuesday! Can you believe that it’s already time for school to start again? I swear it was just Memoral Day like last week! It seems that with every passing year, school starts earlier and earlier. We didn’t have A/C back in the day at my grade school, so once it crept up past 85 degrees, we got out early. And that happened quite a bit, because it’s still pretty warm & toasty in late August and through September in Omaha! So that means we need to re-think our back to school wardrobe. Dresses are one of the easiest things to dress up or down, which is why I think every back-to-school babe should have a few in her lineup!
I love this red floral wrap dress from Amelia’s Boutique for many, many reasons! For one, this is the perfect shade of red. It’s bold and vibrant, giving it Summer and Fall feels. The floral print has more neutral tones to it, which balances out the bright red just right! Ruffles are still super trendy for Fall, and these flirty feminine ruffles add just the right amount of pizzazz to an otherwise classic dress. And can we have a moment of silence in honor of how amazing the wrap dress is! It is God’s gift to women. Well, DVF is; because she’s the woman behind the best.dress.ever. The wrap dress fits well & works on every body type, because it highlights your figure and the adjustable tie belt gives you room to breathe. I know weight gain is something many women face, especially when in college, so these kinds of dresses give you lots of flexibility if and when your size fluctuates!
And what’s even more fabulous about this little red dress, is that you can style it in so many ways! For this particular post, I wanted to bring out the gray hues in the floral print, so I paired it with these gray studded block heels, which are super comfy btw! Gray is a great neutral option and is a bit more “Fall-like” versus a blush or nude heel. And one of my all-time favorite transitional pieces is my denim jacket! I love that I can wear it on, draped over my shoulders or tied around my waist. This would be an ideal look for a date night, a networking event, or a meeting for an organization or sorority you’re a member of.
You could also swap out the heels for white sneakers! You may be thinking, Sara, a dress with tennis shoes? C’mon girl. But I’m not crazy! It’s a huge trend right now and for good reason – it’s cute and comfy! To add a little edge to this look, leave the jean jacket at home and bring along your favorite moto jacket! You could pair black, gray, navy, brown, white, or cream with this dress! And if you’re like me and prefer to have a little height when wearing a dress, then opt for open-to booties! This still gives you the comfort but also takes it up a notch. Another jacket that would look great is a camo utility jacket! I love mixing prints and florals honestly go with so much. In fact, I have a navy and white gingham bomber jacket that would look awesome with this dress. See, we’re not short on outft ideas!
It’s so important to me that you girls get the most for your money, so with all of these outfit ideas, I’m also giving you a 20% discount to use, as well! With code sabbystyle20august, you can snag this red beauty for just $36! And if red isn’t your color, it also comes in a gray version, too!

Hi sweet friends! How was your weekend?! Ours went way too fast and even though it was so great to spend lots of time with family & friends, this girl is dragging a bit. But have no fear, I can always count on a $13 shirt and great fitting denim to perk me right up! And the only Monday Blues I’m feeling is the love I have for this outfit! This top has the sweetest little ruffle peplum hem and I love the embroidered flowers! It also comes in yellow and pink, too. Beyond the uber low price, it’s definitely an item that can be worn multiple ways. You can style it for date night with jeans and heels, for the office with ankle cropped pixie pants and flats, or for back to school with shorts and gladiator sandals! When you first see “only $13”, you probably are like heck yeahhhhh. Then you might think, wait, why is it only $13?… It must be too good to be true. Well I’m here to tell you that this darling top is not poorly made, nor does it look or feel like it’s only thirteen bucks!
I’ve received a lot of questions regarding SheIn and people expressing their hesitation in ordering from them because it is an overseas company. But please don’t let the super low price and it’s location fool you! Some of my favorite fun and trendy pieces are from SheIn. I love that I can bulk up my wardrobe with printed tops and beautiful dresses and not feel guilty about it! You’ve heard me say time and time again that I like to invest my hard-earned money into nice bags, shoes, and denim, but refuse to spend $50-$100 on a top or t-shirt. That’s exactly why I shop and partner with SheIn, because it aligns perfectly with my high-low mixing model!
I also get a lot of questions regarding sizing and how to order. My biggest tip is to follow the measurement chart they provide and to not order based on your typical letter size. Once I learned this secret, it was game-on and I haven’t had any negative experiences with my items! And even for the super affordable prices, the items I own and love haven’t fallen apart on me. In fact, I’ve had this bag for well over a year now and it still looks fabulous! It even survived my Vegas Bachelorette Party ha! I promise that I would never, nor have I ever, promoted or featured an item or retailer that I personally don’t love. I value your trust and loyalty beyond measure, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions because I want you to feel confident and informed when purchasing!
For reference, I’m wearing a Medium.

Hi babes and happy Friday! How was your week? Mine has flown by and I still feel like I’m playing catch up from being out of town a couple weekends ago! August is looking to be an even busier month than July, but with that comes a lot of fun and exciting content that I’m pumped to share with you soon! So what do you have planned this weekend? Tonight I’m going to the Balloon & Wine Festival with my girlfriend, Michelle, and I’m really looking forward to an evening with wine (le duh) and just being outside and enjoying a Summer night! I’m hoping to get in some pool time on Saturday if the weather cooperates. It’s been very cool (for August) here in Omaha, so it’s been a bit tricky finding time to get in some rays! On Sunday we’re co-hosting a diaper shower for Tony’s best friend and his wife! While I have *slight* baby fever, we’re enjoying being newlyweds and are living vicariously through our friends and their sweet babes. Have you ever had, attended, or thrown a diaper shower? I don’t know exactly just how many diapers you go through when you have a baby, but based on how appreciative our friends have been and told us how awesome these diaper showers are, I can only imagine that it’s a huge expense! So we’re so happy to be able to throw our friends a little get-together that will lessen that worry/aspect of being new parents. Plus, we all like to eat and drink adult bevs (minus mom-to-be), so we’ll use any excuse to have a party and make memories with our nearest and dearest!
And while diapers may be expensive, this striped peplum cutie is not! It’s hard to segue from diapers to fashion haha. But seriously though, I can’t get over this super fun, and affordable (only $12), top! You can’t go wrong with classic stripes, but sometimes you need to add a little something extra to them. The peplum, high-low hem keeps these stripes fresh and on-trend! That’s what I love about SheIn; you can add trendy pieces to your wardrobe and take style risks because everything is so affordable. I believe in investment pieces; such as bags, shoes, (some) jewelry, denim, and outerwear, but I don’t think you should have to spend $100+ on a t-shirt or blouse! I love to mix high-low pieces, and one way I do that is with pricier shoes, bag, & denim and then add in my “fast fashion” item on top paired with a bold accessory. These chartreuse tassel earrings pack the perfect punch of color to the cool blue tones in the jeans and stripes! I opted for a classic nude pump and opted for a sleek white bag to keep this simple & chic, but this would look super cute with colored pumps, too. Another trick to “fake it ’til you make it” with inexpensive items is to make sure they’re wrinkle and stain free. A $10 tee can look better than a $50 one that may have a mark or is pilling. And no matter how pricey or inexpensive an item is, as long as you feel confident in what you’re wearing, that alone is worth a million bucks!
How do you mix high-end and low-end pieces?
